About Me

Bruce Johnson
Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
I was born in Napier, New Zealand and served in the Royal New Zealand Navy for 20years. After I retired from the Navy I turned professional as an Archer and Archery Coach. Although I don't compete competitively anymore, I am still very involved in coaching at the Elite Level. I have coached at two Olympic Games and eight World Championships. I used to draw and sketch when I was in my teens but never really took it too seriously until I turned 50. I started painting in 2004 when I attended a watercolour workshop presented by Susan Harrison-Tustain and Arleta Pech. Since then I have taught my self to paint with pastel and oil. I love the challenge of painting portraits and the adrenalin rush I get when I show the client the finished portrait is equal to any of the Gold Medals I have won. The exciting thing is I can keep on painting for many years to come. Bruce
